where are the paper clips?

Yeah I'm just out of college, can't you tell? And I went to a particularly liberal liberal arts college in New England. I'm so green I make Kermit look like Marilyn Manson, but cuter. On top of that, I moved to LA in August 06 and yes, I work in The Industry.

But here I am, in the office, blogging on office time, trying to find the office supplies and get over talking to strangers over the phone. Hi, welcome to my blog.

Yesterday I visited the back lots at Paramount Studios for the first time. I always knew everything I saw on TV was fake, but it doesn't hit until you see that New York Street really is as flimsy as Ikea furniture. You ever notice how foyers and doorways on TV are often L-shaped so when you open a door all you see is a wall? But in real life you usually have a little hallway or stairs. Well, it's a set. It's all wood planks and plaster back there.

And it's kind of strange to see three trees, each in different states of seasonal change. No winter tree, because apparently you always bring your own snow for winter shoots.

So there I am, gawking and trying hard not to look too impressed, because who is ever impressed in Hollywood? But it's difficult to keep down my enthuasism; it's a set! and there are the models I helped cast! and the photographer! and the crafts service table!

... and there is the comissary and the familiar smell of grease and overpriced limp lettuce to bring me all back. And that's what it's like so far. There's the thin wallpaper of glamor and the rest is just wood planks.
